The start of this week’s Parsha commands the Jewish pecple to make guardians and police at their gates. One of the messages that the Torah is trying to tell us is that at each of our personal gates we should create elements of protection. Every opening and organ in our body is place where the yezer hora can invade, it is up to us to put a barrier over our ears so that we don’t hear evil speech, a block on our eyes so that we don’t see inappropiate things, and so on.
Please G’d we will all have the strength to ensure that there are strong ‘gates’ protecting our cities (neshamos) and in that merit we will see the coming of Moshiach bimheira b’yahmeinu! Amen
