Succos; the longest yom tov we have

The Chofetz Chaim would ask; why is it that sukkos is 7 days, whilst Rosh HaShanah and yom kippur come to a total of only 3? If I’m not mistaken, he would answer that it is to teach us that one’s mood should generally be one of happiness (like sukkos) and not constant fear (RH & YK).
