Emunah – not just faith

Written by Daniel King

I was once told that the meaning of the word Emunah is not just “faith”, as it is commonly translated, but faithfulness.

But it was only recently that I got a bit closer to understanding what was meant by this definition. Emunah (faithfulness) means staying positive when things don’t look so great. Its the work you have to do for Hashem to help you through the difficult times.

A tzadik once told me “the great thing about judaism is that the rough is good for you” – it helps you grow, and whilst the smooth is great to enjoy, you must always remember where it comes from.
