This week when learning Ba’alhturim i came across a very interesting lesson. Vo’Era (וארא)he says has the Gematria of 208 which is the same as Yitschok (יצחק). The Ba’al HaTurim brings a midrash to help us understand this gematria.
The Midrash goes as Follows:
Our avos (fathers) Avrohom, Yitschok and Yaakov were Praying to Hashem when the Jews went into exile in Egypt to remember the things that He had promised them, the riches the land of Israel etc.
Hashem answered the Avos by saying that if one of them changed their name slightly He will use the change in gematria of the name
