All too often, we think that we are doing the best for others – especially our children – but in truth, we are guilty of dealing with their lives by looking through our lens and life perspective, and not from the standing point of those with whom we deal with.
In this sad video, which unfortunately plays itself out in reality to varying degrees for many people, we see a father who feels that he’s giving everything to his son and can’t understand why he struggles in life, but we – as an outsider – can see clearly the damage he is causing.
This video is certainly a glorified example of one parent’s inability to see the pain that he is causing his child. But perhaps we can take it to heart in our own lives, with our own children, spouse or those with whom we deal with on a regular basis. And remember that when it comes to others, just because we have labels like “responsibility”, “encouragement”, “direction”, it does not mean that they are rightfully or fairly applied to other people.
