Asher Yatzar – Why is it different from all other brachas?

Written by Anonymous

The brachah of Asher Yatzar (blessing made after going to the toilet) is the only brachah explained and analyzed in the Shulchan Aruch.

I would like to suggest one possible reason for this;

The action which results in the brachah of Asher Yatzar is the only time I can think of where one is not supposed to have complete Kavonoh during the act itself (which will subsequently lead to the recital of a bracha).

The idea being that during an act where one makes a bracha, he can have feelings of awe, love and wonder for HaShem – for instance, upon hearing Thunder one can hear the roar from the sky and think about G’d’s might…and then make a brachah using these thoughts.
However, whilst in the toilet where one is not supposed to think about G’d, one misses the chance to experience the emotions that one could normally think about when performing other acts that result in a brachah – and so we need an explanation from the Shulchan Aruch more than any other bracha because we miss out on the full kavanahs at the time of the act.
